Portion control changed my life
Now that is a BOLD statement but it’s so true! I truly knew nothing about nutrition, i didn’t know how much to each each day or what to eat each day. All i knew was how to count calories and that drove me insane! It stressed me out trying to stay in the range i was suppose to be in. The main focus was CALORIES. Not nutrition.
When the 21 Day Fix came out, i was super hesitant on doing the portion control plan. I mean, look at those containers! They are SMALL!!
But after getting the program and reading the book and learning how to do it, i realized that i was so wrong! Back to my first statement, it changed my life. The book told me exactly what to eat and how much to eat. My day was full of fruits, veggies, protein, carbs and healthy fats all in the proper moderation. I didn’t have to count a single calorie, instead we counted colories.
The 21 Day Fix became the most popular fitness program on the market. A huge part of that success was due to this portion control nutrition plan that was created. It teaches you how much you should be eating each day based on your calorie range. Each container holds a different food group.
Green – Veggies
Red – Protein
Purple – Fruits
Yellow – Carbs
Blue – Healthy Fats and Cheese
Orange – nuts, seeds or dressings
Shakeology Shaker cup – Drinks
* you get an extra orange to store dressing.
When you get your portion control nutrition plan, the books tells you exactly how many containers of each color you can eat each day. You also receive a full list of foods that go in each different color container!
For Example, I am in the first bracket and my day is:
Green – 3
Red – 4
Purple – 2
Yellow – 2
Blue – 1
Orange – 1
Those numbers tell me how many times during the day i can fill each container! Here is an example of a meal i put together with the containers!
