Thanks for stopping by! First and foremost i want anyone who visits my page to know that i am just a normal regular girl who also happens to love food. As you browse my page you will find that i am far from perfect. So if you are looking for perfection, this page is not for you!
I am a mom to a handsome little boy and a wife to the most supportive and loving man in the world. I am a DIY enthusiast and total pinterest addict. I have a love for pizza, donuts and burritos. And i am also an online health and fitness coach helping people become the best versions of themselves.
Wait? I am a coach but eat pizza, donuts and burritos? Remember, you won’t find perfection on this page! I refuse to be restricted to a ‘diet’ and i believe in enjoying good food. And all can be done without restriction and all in moderation! I won’t eat a whole pie, but i will enjoy a slice of pizza! I won’t eat a whole dozen donuts, but i will enjoy a treat here and there!
I was never a health and fitness freak. In fact, I used to dread gym class in high school and the thought of trying to fit in time to go to the gym stressed me out! I had a full time job working 40 hours a week in a doctor’s office. I also worked in a bar 4-5 nights a week. Almost every night of work ended by staying back with my co-workers and drinking the entire night away. Go home and go to sleep and then repeat. While that life was FUN for a very short time, it caused me to gain some weight. That summer FINALLY ended and I got myself back into a gym routine and focusing more on my relationship at the time. Just as I started a new routine, I found out I was pregnant…
I stopped everything FAST! I played the ‘pregnant’ card on everything. My meals were doubled. Not because I was starving but because I was using the excuse of being able to eat what I want whenever I wanted. I always took the second or third slice of pizza. Soft pretzels? Forget about it, as good as in my belly in 10 seconds. Cravings? Breakfast Pizza (I would have eaten the whole pie), MUG root beer! (It had to be MUG) and anything loaded with buffalo sauce. And you better believe I ate it all.
How I Got Started with my Fitness Journey
I started off at a weight that i have never seen before in my entire life.. 248 LBS. A couple of weeks went by, and my first outing as a mom was coming up. My first outing without my little man. Mom night out!! This was a Labor Day Party. I decided I would put on my maternity pants, but ONLY because my skin was so loose still from just giving birth. (Can my new moms relate?) – It was the first time after giving birth that I actually felt GOOD! Well, the next morning came, I was tagged in pictures on Facebook, and I was so wrong with how I looked. At that moment, I sunk back into my bed and I just cried all morning. I skipped breakfast and lunch that day. Depression sunk in and I then put all my focus on Zachary because for that time, he was what was keeping me alive.
I knew something needed to be done. I knew I needed to change. I knew I needed to stop the path I was headed. It was not healthy for me and it was not healthy for my son. I dusted off my super old insanity DVDs and I got to work. I started my journey on September 2nd 2013. I completed the 60 days of Insanity. Hold up…. REWIND… When I say ‘completed‘, what I mean is I barely made it through day 1 but I huffed and puffed my way through the next 59 days complaining every bit of the way. I even paused the DVD 5-6 times every single day. Well… Huffing and puffing lost me 11lbs on my first round. This to me was incredible since I couldn’t even keep up. So i decided to keep going and do the 60 days AGAIN!!!!!
When I completed Insanity for a second time I then started getting REALLY into health and fitness. I started doing almost all forms of working out. I did a little bit of TurboFire here and there, both at home and at a local fitness studio. I attempted going to the gym and to kettlebell classes for a couple days a week, but it was near impossible with a 5 month old baby. I even went to Zumba for a little bit (which I would have continued because I had a freakin blast dancing around to fun music and sweating my buns off – buuuuuutttt issh happen).
How I Got Started with Beachbody Coaching
In the beginning of December 2012, I found my online health and fitness coach who introduced me to Shakeology! I had been doing Insanity but not taking advantage of a coach or support on the website. Then again, I didn’t even know what the heck Shakeology was. When my coach told me about it, I fell off my chair and thought, I could never afford that! Two weeks after thinking about it, I decided to join as a Team Beachbody Coach so I can take advantage of the 25% discount they offer. I was BROKE! It was 2 weeks before my sons first Christmas and I didn’t even get him a gift yet at this point.
I took a MAJOR leap, and decided to think about ME for once. I skipped buying my son a Christmas gift that year. I had to borrow 10$ just to sign up as a coach because I didn’t even have the $39 to sign up. I cried when I hit submit. I cried because it was done. I cried because I chose myself over my son. I cried because I felt like a horrible mother. I’m really freakin’ glad I cried.
I was no longer taking Zumba, I was no longer able to even make it to the gym ONCE a week and I had just about given up trying to find somewhere to take classes that 1. Have a sitter and 2. Have classes when I WANT to work out… With my second round I felt better; I kept up a little more than I did the first. I huffed and puffed just as much but I felt STRONGER! With my second round, I lost 31lbs in 60 days! (See picture above of the Beachbody Challenge)
As if you couldn’t tell by that last sentence in the last paragraph, I was a SHAKEOLOGY BELIEVER! I followed almost the SAME EXACT DIET as I did the first round (The Insanity Nutrition Plan) and didn’t get half the results I did the second round. I firmly believe it was my Shakeology. I replaced ONE meal a day and I felt amazing! I had more energy to get through my workouts, my skin started smoothing out, I started breaking out on my face less, my saggy baby belly was slowly shrinking and I was LOSING WEIGHT!
Since my first day of drinking Shakeology back in 2012, I have probably missed a total of 20 days. Ask any Shakeology drinker, they will tell you, WE FEEL LIKE GARBAGE! I’m so thankful for Shakeology and home fitness programs through Beachbody for changing my life. Fast forward to today, I am in THE best shape of my life. I went from 200lbs on September 2, 2012 to holding steady my healthy and strong 146lbs.
